Born in 1992 in Moscow, Alexander Gorchilin began his acting career as a child in the "Nord-Ost" musical, then later on stage of the Young Actors Musical Theatre and then in commercials, TV-series and feature films. In 2008 he entered the Moscow Art Theatre School, Kirill Serebrennikov's class later transformed into the Studio Seven theatre company. Alexander graduated in 2012 and together with the Studio Seven joined Moscow's Gogol Center Theatre. He continued his work in films, most notably as Antonin in "Yes&Yes" by Valeriya Gay Germanika (FIPRESCI Prize at the 36th Moscow International Film Festival), Grigoriy Zaytsev in "The Student" by Kirill Serebrennikov (François Chalais Prize at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival) and Punk in "Leto" by Serebrennikov as well (nominated for Palme d'Or at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival). In 2015 he debuted as a film director with a documentary "#WHOISHAPPYINRUSSIA" and a short film "Russian fairy tales". His first feature film "Acid" received "Kinotavr. Debut" prize at the 29th Kinotavr, the main Russian national film festival, and was screened at the Panorama section at the 69th Berlinale.
