Antonio Badrani

Antonio Badrani

ACTOR

Antonio Badrani was born in Basra, an Iraqi city located on the southern border between Kuwait and Iran. One of eight children whose father worked two jobs, Antonio's only true escape was television. He found solace in the American Westerns and TV series he watched every day. The actors (John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Lee Majors, and the like) spoke to him in a way he hadn't expected; he now knew what he would do with his life. As a young man, Antonio lived through two wars: The Iran-Iraq War, and The US-Iraq War. Subjected to political abuse from the Saddam regime, his differences with the Ba'ath Party ideology landed him in jail. He was freed by The Ba'ath Party Resistance and gained political asylum with the United States in March of 1991. Under U.S. care, Antonio was sent to a refugee camp in the Saudi Arabian desert, where he spent the next four years. He immigrated to America in August of 1994. In early 2000, Antonio began taking acting classes at various studios in Nashville, Tn. Studying with Alan Dysert, Brad Wilson, and Holly Allen, his hard work eventually paid off. In 2004 he landed a terrific role playing Prince Tariq in the Dreamworks Pictures' movie Dreamer: Inspired by a True Story. Under the tutelage of acclaimed writer/director John Gatins, and working alongside a star-studded cast that included Kurt Russell, Kris Kristofferson, David Morse and Luis Guzmán, Antonio gained invaluable experience and confidence. Antonio became a United States Citizen on March 24, 2005 and continued appearing in local independent films and doing as much commercial work as possible. But being serious about his dream and sensing Nashville had very little left to offer him, he packed up his belongings and headed west to Los Angeles. Upon arrival in 2010, he immediately enrolled in more acting classes and workshops, attending the Bill Howey Acting Studio in Burbank, as well as the Michelle Danner Acting School in Santa Monica. Also, as a fluent Arabic speaker, he has learned accent reduction and dialect training at Los Angeles City College. Antonio Badrani was recently cast in Academy Award-winning director Ang Lee's Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk (2015), and looks to make a big impact in the cinematic arts from this moment on.
