Screenwriter and television writer, Barry McLoughlin was born in Ireland and moved to Canada as a child. He got his professional start as a stand-up comedian-impressionist, performing with Yuk's Yuk's comedy clubs and The Royal Canadian Air Farce. He co-created and co-wrote the pilot and the 78 episodes of Global Television's "Sssh...it's the News" (also credited as " And that's the News, Goodnight"; as well as a writer for "You Can't Do That on Television" for Nickelodeon. When not writing, Barry is a media consultant with offices in Washington DC. He is formerly the Chair of the Canadian Screen Training Centre. A graduate of the UCLA Professional Screenwriting Program, he has written four screenplays: a historical drama, two romantic comedies, and a corporate thriller, as well as a television series pilot.
