Jens Winter is a German actor born in 1965. He works in both German and English language, the center of his work life is Berlin, Germany. His first appearance in an international movie as the Fugger auditor was in Luther (2003) alongside Alfred Molina. The short film Jonah and the Vicarious Nature of Homesickness (2010) in which Jens plays Jonah, a desperate father floating through space in a rowing boat, was awarded the Berlinale Berlin Today Award, president of the jury was Stephen Daldry. Jens' work also includes a number of choreographed shows and short films based on contemporary dance and movement combined with acting, e.g. his alien dance in Summer of the Flying Saucer (2008) by Martin Duffy or as Rich Chittenden in the video installation "The Chittendens" (2006) by Chicago based visual artist Cathrine Sullivan, which was presented at the Secession, Vienna and Tate Modern, London. Jens' family descends from British navigator Captain Edward Smith who left Devonport, South England in the late 19th century and went ashore in the north German harbor of Glueckstadt (which in German means "town of happiness"). Jens is married and father of a six year old daughter.
