Martin Halacy grew up in Troy, New York. From an early age he performed in church and school theatrical productions. After graduating from Troy High School he attended Northwestern University receiving a bachelors degree in mathematics (1962) and a masters degree in the teaching of English (1963). He taught math and physics for thirty-two years at Lake View High School in Chicago. For a time he sponsored the high school drama club. He also acted in many community theater productions. After retiring from teaching in 1994 he began pursuing a career as a professional actor in Chicago. Favorite roles include Baptista in "The Taming of the Shrew" and Brocklehurst in "Jane Eyre". The latter production of Lifeline Theatre won the Joseph Jefferson Citation for Best Ensemble in 2001. Halacy also appeared in the world premiere production of "The Cairn Stones" by Anne McGravie. He began doing on camera work and voice overs. His voice can often be heard in the radio drama "Unshackled", which is produced weekly in Chicago and broadcast on stations worldwide.
