Mary Amerson

Mary Amerson was born Mary Kathryn Cooksey Amerson in New Bern, NC to Kathryn Amerson (née Smaw), a writer and college History Professor, and A. Douglas Amerson, Jr., a Driver Education Business Owner. Her father is of English and Scottish descent, and her mother is of English, Welsh, and Scottish descent. She has two sisters, Meredith Amerson Laskovics, a graphic designer, and Margaret Douglas Amerson. Mary's maternal grandmother, Helen Sims Smaw, is a poet and hymnist.
