Naomi Childers

Naomi Childers

ACTRESS

Naomi Childers was born on November 15, 1892 in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. Largely a character actress, she began her career at the age of 22 in Ziegfeld Follies (1945) filmed in 1914. From then until 1919, Naomi appeared in nineteen films. Some of the films in question were Mr. Barnes of New York (1914), The Dust of Egypt (1915), Fathers of Men (1916) and The World and Its Woman (1919). After staying busy for five years, the roles began to vanish. Between 1920 and 1924, Naomi appeared in only 8 films. While that would be an outstanding number today, back then it was peanuts. Most performers worked in 15-17 films a year, sometimes more. In the whole of the "talkie" era, Naomi was in 23 films, 1934-1946. As a matter of fact her last appearance on the giant screen came in Ziegfeld Follies (1945) at the age of 54. On May 9, 1964, Naomi died of undisclosed causes in Hollywood, California. She was 71.
