Richard Meiman

Richard Meiman is an American born actor who has appeared in several, award-winning independent and studio features as well as short films directed and produced by some of the worlds up and coming filmmakers. Born in The Bronx, NY and raised in Westchester County, NY, Richard found his interest in film acting at nine years ole when he got a hold of his father Nat's 8mm Kodak camera. He and his two nephews, Howie and Danny, would make detective, martial-arts and western inspired shorts produced by his mother, Frances. Who else would give them the money to buy and develop the film? Film became Rich's passion. He and his friends would often sneak into theaters to get glimpses of the movies on the big screen. When he was 13, he and about ten of his friends took the subway to Manhattan to see if they could get into a theater showing "The Exorcist." They found a couple of older women, who agreed to help them get into the "R" rated film by pretending to be their aunts. After seeing what, was probably the scariest movie ever made, he was unable to sleep for the next week. As a result, his parents banned him from going to the movies by himself. But that didn't stop him from doing whatever it took to get to the movies. Even if it meant being punished. Richard performed in several musicals and dramatic plays while attending a summer program at Tabor Academy, Marion, Mass. It wasn't until he attended college, that he worked on several one-act plays at the Lehman College Center for the Performing Arts, The Bronx, N Y. After leaving college, Richard pursued a more traditional path, starting in the publishing and printing fields then moving on to the securities brokerage business. At age 24, he married his childhood sweetheart, Janet. They had two beautiful daughters, Jessica and Lindsay. Today, both successful in their current professions. When the great recession hit in 2008, Richard found himself looking to pursue new ventures. He begrudgingly took a job with a Durable Medical Equipment Provider in South Florida as the Director of Appeals and Collections. That lasted until 2011 after he was convinced by his lawyers to leave that company. Since the employment universe was bleak, Richard decided to move back to NYC to be closer to his children and his brother Stephen. In 2012, he made the decision to pursue a full-time acting career. For the past seven years, he has worked with A-list actors as a principal, supporting and featured actor as well as starring in independent features and short films. His desire to continue working with like-minded artists drives him to find projects that do more than just entertain. Hopefully, the audience will leave the movie theater thinking about what just happened-whether they liked the production or not. At least the performers put their vulnerabilities out for everyone to see; instead of just sitting on the sidelines wondering what could have been.
