Vesna Kuzmic is a Slovenian theatre and film actress, born in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. Her mother is a Slovenian and her father is a Bosnian Serb. She is the oldest of three children. She has a sister and a brother. In 2009 Vesna enrolled in the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television (AGRFT) in Ljubljana, where she was studying stage acting. During her studies at the Academy, she played Nina Mikhailovna Zarechnaya and Paulina Andreyevna (»The Seagull« by Anton Chekhov), Medea (»Medea« by Euripides), Elvire (»Don Juan« by Moliere), Casca (»Julius Cesar« by Shakespeare). In 2013 she graduated with a role of Madame in the theatre play »The Maids« by Jan Genet. She continued her acting studies in the postgraduate master program of stage acting at AGRFT which she successfully completed in 2015. Vesna was working in several theaters in Ljubljana, such as Mini Theater and Glej Theater. She has also collaborated with Maladype Theatre from Budapest. She was playing lead roles in short movies such as »Getting There« (2010), »Smehljaji« (2010), »Broken Boundary« (2011), »The Afters of a Funeral« (2012), »This is not the story of love« (2014), »Veritas« (2015), »The Far Side« (2016), »Flat« (2016) and others. She also appeared in the movie »Ksana« which was premiered in October 2017. In 2014, Vesna applied and was accepted at the prestigious International Summer Theater School STD RU (Moscow) even though she didn't speak Russian at that time. The experience of working with some of the the most recognized Russian theater directors and pedagogues, her genuine love of the Russian theatre and culture led her to take classes of Russian language the fallowing year and apply at The Russian Institute of Theater Arts - GITIS, one of the most recognized theatre schools in the world. She was accepted at two-year master's program of acting and moved to Moscow in the fall of 2015. She has played roles such as Margarita (»The Master and Margarita« by Mikhail Bulgakov), Anna Karenina (»Anna Karenina« by Tolstoy), Henriette (»Adventure« by Marina Tsvetaeva), Diana (»The Dog in the Manger« by Lope de Vega) and others. She has performed at various stages in Moscow (Student Theatre GITIS, Obraztsov puppet theatre, The Central House of Actors Moscow, Pushkin House -Museum etc.) She has also collaborated with Russian film director Georgy Gavrilov and worked on several projects with young Russian film director Yan Lovrov. After finishing her studies in Russia in June 2017, Vesna has returned to Ljubljana, Slovenia where she continues her work as a theatre and film actress. Besides acting, Vesna does yoga and meditation on a regular basis, enjoys jogging, fitness, cycling and hiking. Since childhood she has been writing poetry. She plays the transverse flute. Between 1997 and 2003 she attended the Music School in Postojna (Slovenia), and then for a few years played in the brass orchestra. Besides her native language, Slovenian, she speaks several other languages. She fluently speaks English, Serbian / Croatian / Bosnian and Russian. She also has the basics of French and Spanish.
