Since 1966 Warren Garfield has been best known in the film industry for creating hundreds of previews of coming attractions or 'trailers', working for Paramount, Disney and later for his own company, 'Coming Attractions', where he wrote, produced and edited trailers mostly for independent distributors. Garfield is most proud of his early trailers for specialty or 'art' films by world-class, international directors such as Paul Verhoeven, Ingmar Bergman, Yves Robertand 'Luis Bunel'. He was born Warren Niel Garfunkel in New York City in 1936. Warren's father, Milton Garfield, was a popular talent agent in the '50s and his uncle was Academy Award-winning producer Harold Hecht, Marty (1955) who gave him his start in the business. After receiving a BA from UCLA's film school, Garfield served as assistant to Academy Award-winning film editors 'Bill Reynolds', 'Gene Milford' and 'Edward Mann' and then as Executive Assistant to Hecht on a wide range of assignments. Garfield wrote the "Spaghetti Western", _Dollaro tra i denti, Un (1966)_ (A Stranger In Town) for MGM release and then landed in trailers. In addition to promotional films, Garfield wrote and developed documentaries, product reels for the Cannes and AFM Film Markets and demo reels for actors, directors and craftspeople. He also produced on-air promotion for NBC, CBS and cable TV and designed computer-generated graphics, logos and titles. He is a retired member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, the Publicists' Guild and the Film/Video Editors' Guild.
