Giunta was born and raised in Ottawa, Canada. Her mother, Colleen Wrighte, is a yoga teacher, and her father, Michael Giunta, is an actor, radio personality and music programmer. She has a brother, Macallan, and a sister, Marley. Wallis sang and performed growing up in Ottawa in several choirs, community musicals and operas. She also worked as a child voiceover actor, for radio and animation, and began modeling at age 15. She graduated high school from Glebe Collegiate Institute at age 17, and began her post-secondary studies in voice at The University of Ottawa, where she completed her freshman and sophomore years. She transferred to The Glenn Gould School in Toronto in her junior year, receiving her Performance Diploma (voice) at age 21 and her Artist Diploma (voice) at age 23. Wallis graduated from the prestigious Canadian Opera Company Ensemble Studio in 2011, and both the Metropolitan Opera Lindemann Young Artist Development Program and The Juilliard School Artist Diploma in Opera Studies in 2013. She began performing professionally in 2010, while still a student, and her diverse career has taken her so far to major theaters in North America, Europe and Asia, including The Metropolitan Opera (New York), Le Theatre du Chatelet (Paris), the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma (Rome) and the Four Seasons Centre (Toronto). In between opera contracts, she also makes time for theatre and musical theater performances. She has worked with several major directors, including Academy Award-Winner Atom Egoyan, Tony Award-Winners Susan Stroman and Michael Mayer, and Robert Lepage.
